Dan Nilsen
Founder & Owner

In 1997, Bishop-McCann was established by Dan Nilsen, aiming to revolutionize the meetings, incentives, and events industry. Drawing inspiration from his mentor, Ewing Marion Kauffman, Dan built the company on the principle of “treating others the way they want to be treated,” a value he learned during his tenure at Marion Laboratories.

“The foundation of Bishop-McCann’s culture is rooted in a team that is passionate about fostering strategic and transformative relationships. Our uniqueness lies in prioritizing personal connections while dedicating resources to craft inspiring experiences that yield exceptional results.”

The company’s dedication and excellence did not go unnoticed. In 2014, Bishop-McCann earned the prestigious title of “Small Business of the Year,” and Dan was recognized as one of the “Rising Stars of Philanthropy” in Kansas City’s inaugural class. Additionally, in 2010, he was honored with the NGLCC/Wells Fargo “Business Owner of the Year” award from the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

Bishop-McCann’s influence expanded significantly over the years, as it consistently ranked among the largest and most influential agencies in North America according to Corporate Meetings & Incentives Magazine’s CMI 25 since 2007.

In addition to their business pursuits, Bishop-McCann maintains a steadfast commitment to creating a positive global impact. Spearheaded by its founder and chairman of the board, Dan, the company actively leads community give-back initiatives through Project JOY. This heartfelt endeavor involves contributing volunteer hours and making monetary donations to support various charitable organizations throughout the country.
