Celebrity Bowling Event Benefitting Children’s Mercy Cancer Center

Challenge/Opportunity

One of Bishop-McCann’s values is to give back to the local community. The Children’s Mercy Cancer Center mission is to help improve the physical and emotional well-being of children with cancer and their families. The center provides comprehensive care to nearly 2,000 children each year with childhood cancers, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and other blood disorders. In order to raise money for the children at the center, an event called “Big Slick” is hosted each year. This year, the event included celebrity bowling.

Response/Solution

At Bishop-McCann, we are a proud partner of The Big Slick Celebrity Weekend. We produced the event that took place June 17 to June 18, 2016. The event benefited Children’s Mercy Cancer Center and consisted of several celebrities coming to bowl.

Outcome/Results

Over the years, the attention that Big Slick has brought to Children’s Mercy has helped with their recruiting efforts to attract top medical and research talent. Big Slick also helps to expose an even larger audience to the nationally recognized work being done at the Cancer Center.

Big Slick, Children's Mercy, bowling, celebrity

In recent years, Rob Riggle, Paul Rudd, and Jason Sudeikis invited Big Slick alumni and area natives Eric Stonestreet and David Koechner to join them as hosts for the bowling event. Together, the five of them—along with their families and friends—are hard at work planning this year’s event. Through patience, creativity, and a whole lot of fun, Big Slick is once again making an impact on the lives of children and their families in one of the community’s most valuable assets. More information can be found at http://bigslickkc.org/.
