Service Management Group Techmanity: Finding Human Truths in Data
A major technology client, Service Management Group (SMG), hired Bishop-McCann to plan and execute their 2018 Forum Convention for more than 250 attendees. Forum is SMG’s annual client and prospect gathering of senior and C-level executives from leading retail, restaurant, and multi-service based companies. This corporate event is an opportunity for SMG clients to network with one another and for SMG to build a stronger relationship with clients. Forum 2018 was SMG’s 19th annual event.
SMG’s primary goals for Bishop-McCann when planning the corporate event were to maintain or reduce costs as event quality and attendance increased, along with increasing return on investment. Additionally, they sought to keep it fresh enough to maintain or exceed ever-growing attendance goals and internal client satisfaction scores year over year.
Held at the beautiful Four Seasons Las Vegas, this three-day convention was designed with the perfect combination of general business sessions, interactive workshops, engaging keynote speakers, award presentations, networking, and FUN!
The program’s theme, entitled “techmanity,” was created to support the company’s message that focused on finding human truths in data. The general business session was packed with engaging keynote presenters, including Airbnb’s Chip Conley, Strategic Advisor, Author, & Speaker; Uber’s Frances Frei, SVP of Leadership Strategy; Red Robin’s Denny Post, CEO; Tractor Supply Co.’s Steve Barbarick, President; and Diana Kander, Author & Business Innovator. Interactive workshops based on small-group roundtables let SMG’s clients get hands on and dive deep to learn real, business-changing insights. The evening programs tied it all together with a poolside reception produced by Bishop-McCann’s production partner, Platinum KC, who provided all audio and lighting experience for this technicolor, techmanity theme.
Bishop-McCann provided a dedicated program management team to partner closely with the SMG marketing team for the convention. With the attendee experience as the primary focus, our account team flawlessly executed each program component. These components included hotel sourcing and negotiation, guest accommodations, meeting room set-up, food and beverage management, décor, and ground transportation. Bishop-McCann’s program operations also worked closely with Platinum KC and Las Vegas-based Destination by Design. With their assistance, we created a welcome reception, general session, breakout sessions, and a poolside reception. These components not only aligned with the meeting strategy but also engaged, inspired, and motivated the audience. The event incorporated an immersive stage design that utilized intelligent lighting fixtures, two offset screens, a lit stage, a transparent podium, and a LED video wall center screen with customized content.
Overall, this convention was a huge success. Attendance percentage for C-level titles increased over past years, and the attendee satisfaction scores for the venue selection were some of the best ever. The entertainment events received record high scores. Additionally, sponsorships were successfully integrated into the program for the first time.
